Mandarmani : A heavenly beach near kolkata

Here Is How I Spent A Day In Mandarmani.

I was getting tired of the busy city life and my hectic work schedule, so I headed for a weekend trip to Mandarmani to give myself a much needed detox. The serenity of the resort village, the  secluded beaches and the gentle lapping sound of the sea waves soothed my soul. All the hotels  in mandarmani have their own private beaches, so, I had absolute freedom to take a stroll in the beach whenever my heart desired, with very few visitors around. Some of the popular hotels in Mandarmani include Hotel Sonar Bangla, the Candlewood park beach resort, and Anutri Beach  Resort.

   Getting there

The ideal mode of travelling to Mandarmani is in private cars. You can either book one, or just           drive for the 4-hour scenic journey yourself, like I did. One thing you must do on your trip to               Mandarmani is stop for breakfast at the famous Sher-E-Punjab in Kolaghat. Gorge on the piping       hot alu parathas and spicy chicken curry, and wash it down with some lassi or sweet milky tea.

Here is how I spent the day in Mandarmani-

  Take an ATV bike ride

A bike ride in the sea beach is the ideal activity for experienced thrill seekers and newbies alike. I      always had a trained expert with me, so this was completely safe, while being highly enjoyable.

  Jet Ski and Bungee Trampoline

I surfed the sea to my heart’s content in the Jet Ski, with a pilot. This highly enjoyable activity is         available at Mandarmani, and is completely safe. The Bungee Trampoline gives you the       opportunity  to jump your troubles away like a kid. I had rubber ropes attached to me, and I spent a   very enjoyable few minutes trying to jump the highest.

Taste the local fares

While in Mandarmani, be sure to have your fill on the fresh, delicious sea fish available here. I had a bit of the hilsa, crabs and prawns, all of which were to die for. Prices tend to be a bit high, but the food is generally clean and hygienic. A trip to the beach is also incomplete without enjoying some tender coconut water, which is sold by the locals.

Take a banana boat ride

The banana boat ride is a specialty of Mandarmani. These boats are called so because they are shaped like bananas. Several people could fit into the boat at a time. Other types of boat rides are also available here.

Shop at the local stores

A string of local stores are available here which sell handmade jewellery, decorative sea shells and various handicraft items. I bought a bunch of trinkets to gift my friends and family.

Visit the Tajpur Beach

This lovely beach is located at a distance of 4.5 km from Mandarmani. The beach has a thick covering of casuarina trees, and has fine sand, both of which add to its beauty. This relatively unexplored beach had very few visitors, which lent it an alluring appeal. I took a leisurely walk on the beach, while sipping on some cold beer, enjoying the solitude.

Visit the mohona

At the end of the beach is the mohona, or the delta. It is located at a distance of 5-6 km from the cluster of hotels at the main beach. On one side of the river are dense trees, and on the other is the village. I could spot some fishing settlements nearby. I could also see fishermen wading through the water, catching fish. Lots of red crabs were visible on the beach. I went there in the evening, when the mohona offers a spectacular view of the sunset.

Tired and happy I headed back to my hotel in Mandarmani for a refreshing dinner and stay over.
